Northwest journalist, writer and editor Darrick Meneken was born on the outskirts of San Francisco and called California home until his 22nd birthday. He has since lived in Port Angeles, Wash.; Eugene, Ore.; and Seattle. He spent the summer of 2005 traveling through South America.

Darrick's work has appeared in print and online up and down the West Coast. He spends much of his writing time on stories about the outdoors and environment.

Darrick earned a master's degree from the University of Oregon and a bachelor's degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
